BenQ became one the first notebook manufacturer to release an AMD Turion 64 X2 notebook computer with the BenQ T31. The 1.8kg notebook is supported by an 800MHz system bus, DDR2 memory, up to 120GB SATA HDD, and is available in black or white. The 13.3″ wide-screen (1280×800) features BenQ’s UltraVivid glossy screen technology and is one of the brightest we have seen at 220nits. Unfortunately, it is powered by a weak ATI Radeon 1150 graphics card (shared memory up to 256MB) thereby rendering it unsuitable for intensive gaming. One of the features that is becoming increasingly popular in portable notebooks is an integrated webcam to participate in video conferences - the BenQ T31 is equipped with a 1.3 megapixel webcam. The notebook has a generous assortment of communication and expansion slots, notably a 5-in-1 card reader, 802.11a/b/g, Gigabit ethernet and Bluetooth v2.0 EDR. The 6-cell battery lasts 4 hours and it even has a built-in DVD writer - not bad for a sub-2kg notebook.
